Back when I lived in Stockholm, I had Klättercentret close to my home. The largest indoor climbing facility in the nordic region. My girlfriend had done an introduction course in climbing and wanted to reach higher, so of course I had to give it a try.

Having a quite strong fear heights made the first attempts pretty challenging but the technically focused and very intense bouldering was a new love. Managing ones first overhang, flashing a problem the first time, the first dynamic move. Quick response and retries, oh so many retries and then feeling of success. What a great way to exercise, finding new friends, talking about problems and helping each other conquer new highs.

It has been a few years since my last time up on a wall (or more like a rock) but now I feel a burning desire to destroy my fingertips again, stretching my body to it’s limits, balancing on the tiniest little ledge and it is all due to Valley Uprising. What an inspiring and motivating movie. Highly recommended. A fantastic documentary with a great balance between history, culture, climbing action and personal stories.
